La Certosa di Maggiano costruita nel 1314, era un luogo dedito alla preghiera e alla meditazione situato appena fuori Siena, a 2 km da Piazza del Campo. Nel 1975, la Certosa di Maggiano diventa un prestigioso hotel Relais & Chateaux della Toscana. Le camere sono state ricavate nelle antiche celle dei monaci, situate al terzo piano del complesso monastico. Diverse per tipologia, colori, vista e arredo, si accomunano per sobrietà ed eleganza, oltre che per tutti i comforts moderni. La Certosa di Maggiano offre diversi ambienti in cui trascorrere piacevoli momenti durante il soggiorno, come la "Sala Imperatori", che deve il suo nome ai dipinti del XVIII secolo, dei dodici Imperatori Romani e la Biblioteca. All'esterno, tra uliveti e vigneti, gli ospiti troveranno la piscina riscaldata, il campo da tennis e un piccolo centro fitness. Il ristorante "Il Canto" propone una cucina basata sulla semplicità e sulla genuinità dei prodotti della campagna circostante. "Il Canto" nel 2006 è stato insignito di una Stella Michelin e, a partire dal 2007, è anche uno dei pochi ristoranti toscani ad essere stati premiati con le Tre Forchette Gambero Rosso 2008. La sua cantina propone le migliori etichette di vini italiani ed in particolar modo i grandi vini rossi della Toscana.

The Certosa di Maggiano, built in 1314, was a place designed for meditation and prayer. It is located in the countryside immediately outside Siena, 2 km. from the famous Piazza del Campo. In 1975 the Certosa di Maggiano was transformed into a hotel and became part of the famous Relais & Chateaux Association. The 17 rooms, corresponding to what were seventeen monastic cells, are situated on three floors. Differing in style, color scheme, view and furnishings, they share a common simple, refined elegance, in addition to all the modern comforts. The Certosa di Maggiano offers its guests a variety of thoughtfully appointed spaces in which to spend different moments of the day, as the "Emperor's Hall" is so-named for the twelve eighteenth-century paintings, portraying the twelve Roman Emperors, which line its walls and the Library. The grounds are vast and among the olive groves and vineyards one finds our tennis court, helicopter landing, and a heated, open-air pool. Near the pool there is also a small fitness room. The restaurant "Il Canto" offers typical Tuscan specialities using products of the surrounding area. Since 2006 it's a One Michelin Star restaurant and in 2007 it also received the award "Tre Forchette" Gambero Rosso 2008. A wide selection of Italian specialties is offered according to season, and in accompaniment guests will find a careful selection of Italian wines, particularly Tuscan red wines.
